SciVite

A virtual interactive tour experience for Washington State University Vancouver’s Life Sciences Building, commissioned by the university for the purpose of recruitment and promotions.

Role: Design & Animation

SciVite was developed by a team of nearly 30 students and faculty within the Digital Technology and Culture (DTC) program at WSU Vancouver. Students were divided into seven specialized teams, each focusing on a different creative field— Executive Team, Development Team, Interactive Timeline Team, Design Team, Video Team, Experience Team, and Social Media Team.

As a designer and animator, my work for this project focused on logo and icon designs, logo animations, video transitional overlay animations, and adhering to brand guidelines and shape language.

Logo Animations

I was in charge of turning our beautiful logo into an animation that can be displayed on our website as well as within video promotional content. I wanted to capture the open and dynamic energy that was already present in our logo's design. I created four versions of this animation: A version that incorporates our wordmark, a colored version that does not loop, a colored version that does loop, and a black and white looping loading menu.

Video Transitional Overlays

I also created four video transitional overlays to be used for video promotional content, as well as within our documentary. For these I included our leaf shape that is seen throughout the website to keep everything in line with brand guidelines.

In total I created eight animations. All of my animations were created entirely within Adobe After Effects, and exported at 1920 x 1080 resolution at 24 frames per second.

Logo & Icon Design

I also researched and designed potential logos and icons for our client using themes from our brand guidelines and project moodboard. Click on any image to open it in a new tab at full resolution.
